Flying Sapper (Minion)

Overview

Flying Sappers threaten the player in two main ways. First, their attacks can deal large burst damage if allowed to connect, which is especially hazardous during a boss fight when positioning and health are already under pressure. Second, they require players to expend rigged_bomb projectiles to destroy; if the player must throw too many rigged_bomb to clear multiple sappers, those resource expenditures can leave the player ill-equipped to handle the boss itself. For these reasons, Flying Sappers function as force multipliers for the boss encounter despite their low individual durability.
Practical notes for dealing with Flying Sappers:
- Prioritize interception or crowd control to prevent their attacks from landing. Even a single successful hit from a sapper can drastically shift fight momentum.
- Conserve rigged_bomb usage by grouping damage or using alternate means to clear sappers when possible; throwing excessive rigged_bomb at minor enemies creates long-term risk in the same encounter.
- Treat them as high-priority support units rather than expendable fodder: eliminating sappers early reduces both immediate damage threats and the chance of resource drain later in the fight.
- Expect them to act in coordination with the boss and consider positioning that denies easy approaches or angles for their attacks.
Flying Sappers are lorefully described as nearly emotionless but prideful in their service; they protect the "super-sapper" boss without recognizing that their role is one of the most hazardous in the mines. This characterization reinforces their in-game function as loyal but dangerous support minions.
