Overview

Demon Wall is a boss enemy encountered in the castle area. It appears as a slow, advancing wall with a gaping maw that instantly kills the player if it reaches and attacks; all effects that would normally allow the Peglin to dodge or negate incoming damage do not prevent this instant-kill. The Demon Wall moves one space per turn but takes an extra two or three turns to cross the enemy arena compared with typical foes, giving the encounter a deliberate, creeping tempo. Its design and very high health are deliberate touches: its large HP value is thematically tied to the Berlin Wall.

The Demon Wall is accompanied by unmoving tall knight minions that block direct shots; these knights do not advance, so the primary objective is to focus fire on the wall itself before it closes the distance. Health values and damage have changed across versions: in v0.7.17 its HP was set to 1,989 while its damage was reduced (older builds and early access versions show different values). When the wall attacks in some builds it deals massive, unblockable damage (notably reported as 2,000 in certain game files), and other builds record an instant death effect—plan accordingly based on your current game version.

Practical strategies and interactions:

  • Prioritize targeting the Demon Wall from turn one rather than wasting damage on the tall knights in front of it; orbs aimed at the wall speed up the kill window.
  • Multiball tools strongly favor this fight. Matryorbshka’s innate multiball and Matryoshka Shell’s ability to grant multiball to every orb increase the number of peg hits per shot and help clear the dense board layout quickly; offset any damage reduction these relics impose.
  • High single-shot damage or upgraded orb relics such as Daggorb or AllOrNothing accelerate wall damage and reduce the number of turns it gets to advance.
  • Bomb relics that add more bombs (for example Bomb Baton and Powder Collector) are very effective for concentrated damage across the dense pegboard.
  • The Gift That Keeps Giving helps orbs scale damage faster but can trap refresh pegs; combine it with refresh-support relics like Tactical Treat or Refreshield to sustain board resources.
  • If your build focuses on healing or status effects rather than direct damage, collect castle-specific offensive tools before facing the wall; its slow approach can lull players into complacency but the maw is unforgiving.

Lore surrounding the Demon Wall notes that none swallowed by it have been heard from again, and some knights form a cult believing the wall’s mouth is a portal to another world.

The boss fight features one of the densest pegboard layouts in the game and has several animations showing the wall consuming a front-line knight or the player if it reaches them. Multiple Demon Walls can appear in a single run, leading to speculation that separate body parts (such as hands) may be related, but the fight mechanics remain focused on stopping the wall before it closes distance.
