Overview

Fright Knights carry a shield that must be removed before their full hitbox can be easily damaged. The shield has been tuned during development: in early versions both shield and health were higher, but later patches reduced their durability (shield health set to 80 in v0.7.20 after earlier reductions from the initial Beta/Early Access values). Their attacks are precise and strong, and their behavior often results in them blocking or being blocked by nearby friendly knights as they form a coordinated front.

- Piercing orbs and targeting orbs deal damage through the shield to the knight itself, effectively ignoring the shield’s blocking.
Mental Mantle and other direct-targeting damage sources also hit the knight beneath the shield.
- Bombs will damage both shield and knight; the shield may resist some bomb damage characteristics, but the knight behind it still takes full bomb damage and both require the same number of bomb hits to destroy.
- High-damage orbs such as Infernorb and upgraded Worbhammers can destroy Shield Pegs (and shields) in a single hit, providing a quick way to strip the
Fright Knight’s protection. Worbhammers additionally ignore the shield’s damage resistance.
- Because Fright Knights are intentionally placed to block other knights, obtaining piercing or targeted orbs early (for example in the Forest or early Castle sections) helps prevent them from shutting down your damage output later.
