Overview

Batteye is an enemy type that appears in the mine encounters of Peglin. It is a grotesque evolution of the Bat, having traded most of its body for a single enormous eye. Batteyes no longer use life-draining abilities; instead they attack purely out of malice, lunging at Peglin with vicious, sight-driven aggression. They are a product of exposure to the crystals deep in the mines and are doomed to roam those tunnels because their new eye is overly sensitive to the outside world.

Batteye behavior is melee-oriented and faster than some baseline bat variants. It advances toward Peglin to attack and does not attempt to siphon energy from the player. Batteye is immune to Blind as of version v0.7.27. The Batteye sprite received an overhaul in v0.9.01; prior to that update its sprite was an all-black variant of the Bat. Movement speed was increased in v0.7.52.

Practical notes for engagements:

  • Expect Batteye to close distance quickly and prioritize direct attacks rather than status or drain mechanics. Positioning and orb targeting that remove or stun close threats early are effective.
  • Because Batteye is immune to Blind (cannot be affected by that status), rely on other crowd-control tools (stuns, slows, or high burst damage) if you need to neutralize it.
  • Batteye does not have special reward interactions; it behaves as a standard enemy within battle flow: it acts during the Enemy Phase after orbs are thrown and new spawns appear when its lane is empty.
  • Be aware of the creature’s lore: Batteyes are common in crystal-influenced deep mine runs and contribute to the mines’ thematic difficulty and atmosphere.
