The shield provides a generic damage reduction versus most orb effects, but its mitigation can be circumvented in several specific ways. Targeting attacks and piercing attacks ignore the shield’s reduction and deal full effect to the 

Kite Knights have relatively low health compared to other enemies, making them easier to kill once their shield is neutralized. They are visually distinct for wearing a bucket- or kite-like helmet and use the same sprite for both the upcoming and battle icons as certain slimes.
Practical notes for facing Kite Knights:
- Equip or generate piercing orbs (or cards/ relics that grant piercing) to ignore the shield’s damage reduction and kill them quickly.
- Use targeting orbs to bypass the shield entirely and hit the enemy directly.
- Aim to smash the peg_shielded on the pegboard to remove the shield effect for any subsequent damage.
- Early runs benefit from a few piercing or targeting orbs, since Kite Knights frequently appear as front-line blockers in Forest and early Castle encounters.
- Despite their shield, Kite Knights have modest HP; once their mitigation is handled they go down faster than heavier-armored foes.
