Wild Bait

Wild Bait is a type of bait that allows a fishing rod to catch two fish at once. The chance of this happening is equal to 0.25 + Daily Luck / 2.0, and it also shortens the time before a fish bites by 62.5%, making it faster than standard bait. The double-catch effect does not work on Legendary Fish, though it can affect the Legendary Fish II caught during the Extended Family quest line.

It can be crafted after Linus teaches the recipe during his 4-heart cutscene. Once the recipe is known, Wild Bait can also appear in regular Fishing Treasure Chests and Golden Fishing Treasure Chests, and it can be found in artifact spots on Ginger Island even before the Linus cutscene is triggered.

Wild Bait has several useful interactions:

• Catching two fish at once does not grant double fishing experience.
• If two fish are caught during a fishing or special order quest, both count toward the quest total.
• It cannot be used with the Training Rod or Bamboo Pole; only the Fiberglass Rod, Iridium Rod, and Advanced Iridium Rod can use bait.
• In a Crab Pot, it reduces the chance of trash compared to standard bait when the player does not have the Mariner profession, and it gives a 25% chance to produce double items. This also stacks with The Art O' Crabbing.
• It can be used in the Sewing Machine to create a Shirt.
• Some Fish Pond quests may request one or five Wild Bait.
