Overview

Solid Carbon Dioxide is a solid element resource used in space-related production and logistics. It appears on the starmap as harvestable deposits on specific celestial bodies and is treated in-game as a solid material with built-in filtering behavior when placed into rocket infrastructure. Solid Carbon Dioxide interacts with rocket components and can be automatically transferred when correctly connected to rocket platforms or Rocket Ports.

Solid Carbon Dioxide can be obtained from multiple starmap biomes depending on the campaign. In the base game it is found on Interstellar Ice Stars, Salty Dwarf Stars, Oxidized Asteroids, and Cryo Giants. In the associated expansion or variant maps it is available on Ice Asteroid Belts, Exploded Ice Giants, Oil-rich Asteroid Belts, Oxidized Asteroid Belts, and Salty Asteroid Belts. These deposits have passive regeneration rates (per cycle) that vary by biome: 378–1134 kg, 108–324 kg, 116.3–387.5 kg, 108–324 kg, and 54–162 kg, respectively.

Solid Carbon Dioxide integrates with rocket infrastructure in two important ways. When a building that accepts solids is built adjacent to a Rocket Platform or another Rocket Port, the building will automatically link for transfer. This allows collectors, storage, and processing buildings placed next to a rocket interface to receive Solid Carbon Dioxide without manual routing. Rocket-side components that accept solids include payload storage and material gates; those components expose built-in solid material filters so only allowed solid types pass through.

Practical notes and tips:

  • Use rocket-adjacent storage or processing modules to automate collection and loading of Solid Carbon Dioxide into rockets; placing these buildings directly beside a Rocket Platform or Rocket Port enables automatic linking.
  • Take advantage of the build-in solid material filters on rocket interfaces to prevent unwanted solids from being accepted or launched with Solid Carbon Dioxide.
  • Target specific starmap biomes to prioritize resource yields: Interstellar Ice Stars and certain ice-related belts yield the highest regeneration ranges, while salty and oxidized bodies provide moderate yields.
  • Plan logistics for returned payloads and mining trips around the regeneration rates listed per biome to maintain a steady supply over multiple cycles.

Solid Carbon Dioxide’s primary role is as a space-harvested solid resource compatible with rocket logistics and the game’s solid filtering systems. Its availability and regen rates are biome-dependent, so selecting the right destinations on the starmap is central to reliable acquisition.
