Overview

PegBag is a board-affecting item that adds extra refresh pegs to the peg board at the start of a round. When present, the board will contain an additional number of refresh_peg equal to the item's internal value ({[PEGBAG_ADDITIONAL_REFRESH]}). This effect increases the occurrences of pegs that immediately refill the ball meter when hit, thereby improving consistency for plays that rely on frequent ball refreshes or chaining.

PegBag appears in standard runs and was introduced in the game's demo and carried through Early Access into the full release. It is part of the set of board modifiers and persists as a deterministic bonus rather than a chance-based effect. The item is applied to the peg board configuration rather than altering peg behavior after the round begins, so the extra refresh pegs are present on spawn.

  • The extra refresh pegs from PegBag are functionally equivalent to regular refresh_peg pegs and can be targeted normally to refill the ball meter.
  • PegBag is effectively a more reliable alternative to items that increase refresh chance indirectly; it directly increases the number of refresh pegs on the board rather than depending on random conversions or on-hit procs.
  • Because the benefit scales with {[PEGBAG_ADDITIONAL_REFRESH]}, its impact is most notable on boards and builds that already prioritize hitting special pegs or that use abilities to aim for specific peg clusters.
  • PegBag interacts well with strategies that exploit repeat ball gains (for example, playstyles that value high ball counts for score, damage combos, or frequent use of special abilities), since extra refresh pegs raise the baseline opportunity to refill the ball meter.
  • The item is particularly useful against encounters and board layouts where refresh pegs are sparse; adding guaranteed refresh targets reduces variance in long runs.

PegBag has been included since the earliest releases and is present across multiple board variations added through beta and subsequent updates, including boards introduced with the Slime Hive and other later-added layouts.
