Chest

A Chest is a placeable storage item used to hold items. When opened, it shows an inventory window with a color bar above it, letting the player change the chest’s appearance at any time without cost. The default chest color is brown, and there are 20 additional colors available in the picker for a total of 21 color options.

The chest’s appearance can be changed freely after it is placed, so it is easy to organize storage by color. The available color variants include blue, light blue, teal, aqua, green, lime green, yellow, light orange, orange, red, dark red, light pink, pink, magenta, purple, dark purple, dark grey, medium grey, light grey, and white.

Chests can also be obtained without crafting in a few unusual ways:

• If furniture or crafted items are placed in a spouse’s room and the player later divorces that spouse, a chest appears the next day containing those items.
• If crafted items are placed inside the submarine or mermaid boat during the Night Market, a chest containing those items appears on the beach when the Night Market ends.
• If a Cabin is demolished in Multiplayer, the farmhand’s inventory is moved into a chest that replaces the Cabin.

These special cases make chests useful not only as standard storage, but also as a way the game preserves items during certain events and world changes.
