The Mill is a farm building purchasable from 
Once built, the Mill can process ingredients into goods that are ready the next morning. Any quantity of ingredients can be placed in it at the same time, and the results are collected from the small box on the right side of the building. That box acts like a chest with 36 storage slots, so it can hold finished products until they are retrieved. It is possible to leave other items in the box while continuing to mill more produce, and the new results are added the following day.
The Mill can also be used as storage in the same way as a chest, as long as there are at least two different types of items in it. However, space management matters: the Mill needs empty slots to place its finished goods overnight. If there are already milled goods in the box, new results stack onto those slots; otherwise, they go into the first available open slots. If there are not enough free slots when production completes, some milled goods are lost. When processing two stacks with only one open slot, the first stack placed in the Mill is saved and the second is lost.
The box only indicates that there are milled goods when they are in the first slot, so finished products in other slots may not be signaled clearly.
