Overview

Soil is the material collected when the Terrain Tool, or drills mounted on a Rover, excavate terrain while a Canister is available to store it. It is drawn directly from the ground as the player digs, and if no canister is available, the Terrain Tool or drills will burn off the material instead of collecting it.

Its main use is as a shaping resource for the Terrain Tool and the Paver, letting players raise, flatten, and connect ground to create paths, cover holes, and establish foundations for bases. Soil can also be processed into certain resources with the Soil Centrifuge, and one Small Canister of Soil is consumed to make a Leveling Block in the Backpack, with the canister returned afterward. Because the Terrain Tool reticle shows the amount of Soil currently available, carrying multiple canisters increases the amount of material that can be tracked at once.

  • Soil is the primary material for building and reshaping terrain.
  • It can be used to create ramps, bridges, and other smooth terrain transitions.
  • It is useful for marking areas or directions, especially when combined with Beacon networks.
  • Terrain color and Tool Aumentos provide additional creative options when shaping the landscape.
