Fiber Seeds

Fiber Seeds are a type of crafted seed that can be planted on tilled soil and grown in any season, including Winter. They do not need to be watered every day, which makes them especially useful for keeping farmland active during the cold season. Like other crops, they can still be eaten by Crows if they are not protected by a Scarecrow.

The recipe for Fiber Seeds is obtained from Linus in the mail the day after completing the Special Order Community Cleanup. Once crafted and planted, a fully grown plant yields between 4 and 7 Fiber when harvested with a Scythe, and it also has a 10% chance to drop 1 Mixed Seeds.

Fiber Seeds are most often used as a convenient way to produce Fiber without relying on foraging or monster drops, but they have a few practical advantages beyond that. Because they can grow in Winter, they are useful for filling unused farmland during the season when most other crops cannot grow. They are also a good option for players who want to keep soil prepared without having to manage watering.

• Planting Fiber Seeds during the last week of Fall prevents fertilizer from disappearing on the first day of Winter.
• Although they are not classified as crops, Junimos will still harvest them if they are within range of a Junimo Hut.
• Since they grow without daily watering, they are easy to leave in place as a low-maintenance source of Fiber.
• As with any crop vulnerable to Crows, they should be covered by a Scarecrow if placed in an exposed field.
