The Lava Blob is a fiery blob-like creature made of molten magma with a living core. It moves by jumping and can cover considerable distances with each leap. It is encountered near the shore, and its behavior makes it dangerous both in close combat and as an environmental hazard.
Its main attack is a rapid growth phase followed by an explosive burst. The explosion destroys the Lava Blob in the process and deals 70 Blunt, 30 Fire, 160 Tier 1 Chop, and 160 Tier 1 Pickaxe damage in a 6-meter radius. The blast can also destroy terrain, which makes it useful as a destructive tool as well as a threat. The explosion can trigger when a player is within range or immediately on death.
Although it has no head, face, or eyes, the Lava Blob still has a facing direction. It cannot perform its normal explosion attack unless it is oriented toward its target. If it is not facing its target, it will rotate in place until it is aligned, and only then will it explode.
When the growth animation begins, dodge roll immediately or sprint away to avoid taking damage.
With careful timing and positioning, the Lava Blob can be used to damage enemies or even fell trees without harming the player.
Because the explosion destroys the creature, its attack is best treated as a one-time area threat rather than a sustained combat pattern.
