Darcness Eterball
Overview
Darcness Eterball is a special Eterball introduced in v0.5.56 and added to the main game during Early Access. It was originally named "Dark Eterball" and later renamed "Darkness Eterball" in an undocumented update. The ball's core function is to apply the Darcness (blind) status and it interacts with overflow and critical hit mechanics after later patches.
The ball's blind application value and critical damage behavior have changed across versions. In v0.7.27 the blind infliction was increased from 1 to 5. An Act 4 update further raised the blind values across levels to 11 / 18 / 25 and added the Overflow keyword to the ball, enabling it to spill excess energy into adjacent pegs or effects when its value exceeds a capacity. In v1.0 the ball's critical damage was increased by +1 at all levels.
Practical notes and strategy:
- Darcness Eterball is primarily used to blind enemies, reducing their accuracy and disrupting attacks that rely on precise targeting. Higher-level versions apply significantly stronger blind values following the Act 4 update.
- Overflow makes Darcness valuable in builds that stack energy or exploit chain reactions; overflowing blind can affect multiple pegs or trigger secondary effects when combined with overflow-supporting relics or rooms.
- The increased critical damage in v1.0 improves its synergy with crit-focused builds; landing critical hits with this Eterball both amplifies damage and reinforces its disruptive role.
- Because its blind values were buffed substantially over time, modern play treats Darcness as a mid-to-high potency control tool rather than a minimal debuff source.
- Combine Darcness with spread or multi-hit effects to maximize the chance to apply blind to several targets, and pair with relics that benefit from Overflow to leverage the added spillover effect.
