Echorb

Overview

Echorb is a non-player enemy that appears in Peglin. It is a small orb-shaped foe whose defining mechanic is an "echo" effect that replicates or amplifies certain actions (hence its name, a portmanteau of "echo" and "orb"). Echorb was present from early beta stages of the game and was formally added to the demo and main game during development; it has received balance adjustments across multiple versions.

Echorb behaves as a distinct enemy type separate from visually similar foes such as the Venom Battrap. Its development history shows iterative tuning to its hit points and interactions: it existed unnamed in early builds, was introduced in the beta, added to the demo in v0.6.18, and placed into the main game in the Early Access release. Subsequent patches adjusted its echo values (notably buffed in v0.8.5 from 15/30/50 to 30/60/100) and its presence in later patch logs confirms it remains part of the encounter pool. Encirclepedia documentation explicitly lists Echorb as distinct from the Venom Battrap.

Practical notes for encounters and strategy:

  • Echorb’s echo mechanic makes it more dangerous when paired with effects that produce repeated projectiles or multi-hit interactions; plan to disrupt or eliminate it quickly to avoid amplified damage.
  • Because its echo values were substantially increased in a balance patch, treat higher-tier Echords as higher-priority targets compared to earlier builds where their echo threat was lower.
  • Echorb has shared visual and projectile history with other orb enemies during development; be aware that older builds or mods might display different projectile art that resembles the Poltorbgeist.
  • When building decks that rely on bouncing or chaining effects, factor Echorb into positioning and timing so echoes do not turn beneficial chains against you.

Version notes of interest: the entity’s echo numbers and health have been adjusted across versions, and it was cataloged more fully in later patches. The name Echorb reflects its gameplay role and has remained the canonical designation since its naming.
