Etherwheel

Overview

Etherwheel is an ethereal pegboard upgrade event that appears as a ghostly or echo-like Peglin encounter. The encounter presents the player with a choice to interact with an "echo" that imbues the player and upgrades one orb on the pegboard before fading; alternatively the player may choose to leave the echo alone. The encounter visually evokes a translucent Peglin and is associated with the pegboard layout displayed after upgrading.

The effect of choosing the Etherwheel echo is a single, permanent upgrade to one orb on the pegboard. This upgrade is applied immediately when the player accepts the echo's gift. The event does not grant additional items, health, or immediate currency; its sole mechanical outcome is the orb upgrade.

Practical notes and interactions:

  • The upgrade applies to a single orb of your choice on the pegboard at the moment of interaction.
  • Using Etherwheel is generally beneficial when you have a high-impact orb (for example, orbs that spawn many pegs or have strong multipliers), since upgrading one orb amplifies its future influence on peg hits.
  • There is no apparent downside to accepting the echo; declining simply yields no change.
  • The encounter is presented as a transient, ethereal Peglin that "imbues you before fading away," indicating the upgrade is instantaneous and tied to the event instance rather than a held item or temporary buff.

The Etherwheel event is part of the suite of special pegboard interactions that alter your board state outside of standard shop purchases and relics, and it integrates directly into a run by modifying the pegboard rather than providing consumables or stat boosts.
