Nectar Biome

Overview
The Nectar Biome is a cold, resource-rich cavern type similar in layout and temperature to the

Bonbon Trees grow in the Nectar Biome and are a primary local producer of Nectar. Nectar harvested from these trees can be consumed directly by certain creatures that live in the biome; the Spigot Seal is one such species and will eat Nectar from trees. Bonbon Trees also provide raw material that can be processed by a Polymer Press into usable polymer products, enabling players to obtain some polymer without having to travel into a hot
Solid mercury found in the Nectar Biome has a practical construction use: it can be used to build Rocket Modules and the Rocket Platform. These rocket buildings do not exchange heat with their environment, so using a low-melting-point refined metal like solid mercury does not create the same thermal issues that it would in other structures.
Practical considerations and strategies for interacting with the Nectar Biome:
- Expect low temperatures and liquefiable materials; plan heat management and insulation accordingly when mining or tunneling into the biome.
- Locate Bonbon Trees to secure a steady supply of Nectar. Nectar supports certain domesticated or wild creatures and can be an ingredient for biome-specific processing.
- Use a Polymer Press on the
Bonbon Tree byproducts available in the biome to produce polymers without visiting Oily Biomes, saving time and reducing heat exposure.
- Capture or tame Spigot Seals if desired; they will consume Nectar from trees and convert it into biomass or other resources useful to your colony.
- Mine solid mercury carefully and use it primarily for rocket construction, where its low melting point is not a disadvantage because rocket modules and platforms do not exchange heat with their surroundings.
- Treat the biome as a specialized resource area: take only what you need, bring suitable mining and creature-control tools, and avoid introducing heat-sensitive infrastructure directly into the cold, liquefiable environment.
