Overview

The Jungle Biome is a mid-game biome that contains a mix of mineral deposits, volatile gases and biologically useful plants and critters. It is built around a central short wide room and a secondary room, with additional blob rooms and geodes, and appears in several seasonal/variant forms (Base, Frozen, Steamy, Gassy, Inactive). Jungle Biome locations are notable for concentrated deposits of Phosphorite, Coal and Iron Ore, blobs of igneous rock and bleach stone, and for gas vents and geysers that can produce useful but hazardous gases.

All variants share the same basic room layout and resource distribution: a central and a secondary short wide room containing Chlorine Gas, Coal, Phosphorite and Iron Ore; a blob room containing Chlorine Gas, Bleach Stone, Igneous Rock and Phosphorite; and a geode containing Sand, Sandstone and Igneous Rock. The biome yields solid resources useful for metal and ceramic production (Phosphorite, Iron Ore, Igneous Rock, Sand/Sandstone) and fuel/filtration materials (Coal, Bleach Stone). Points of interest vary by variant but commonly include Cool Steam Vents, one optional Natural Gas Geyser or Hydrogen/Chlorine Gas Vent, and three ruins in most variants; the Inactive variant contains only a single ruin.

Temperature and atmosphere differ by variant. The Base, Inactive, Steamy and Gassy variants are generally in the Human Hot range (39.85–49.85 °C for the Base variant), while the Frozen variant is cold (−46.15 to −16.15 °C). Jungle Biome volumes do not provide a source of breathable oxygen on their own; breathable air must be supplied or generated to support duplicants. The biome commonly contains both Hydrogen (which will float above breathable air) and Chlorine Gas (which will sink below breathable air), so tunnel geometry and airflow management require care: small tunnels can become blocked or stratified, complicating gas handling.

Biota and farming opportunities in the Jungle Biome include several useful plants and critters. Fungal Spore can be planted in Planter Boxes, Farm Tiles and Hydroponic Farms and produces Mushrooms at maturity. Dreckos are present and are a strong source of both fertilizer and wool production; when paired with Balm Lily they can be ranch-managed with minimal external inputs. Pincha Pepperplants grow in the biome and are the primary ingredient for higher-tier cooked foods such as Pepper Bread and Spicy Tofu, making the biome valuable for mid-game food production.

Practical notes and strategy:

  • Expect no innate breathable air; plan to pipe in oxygen or build localized oxygen generation before expanding tunnels. Gas stratification (Hydrogen above, Chlorine Gas below) makes airflow unpredictable in narrow corridors.
  • Exploit Phosphorite deposits for fertilizer and phosphorous for advanced recipes; mine Coal and Iron Ore concentrated in the central rooms for early fuel and metal supply.
  • Use Cool Steam Vents and any Natural Gas Geyser / Hydrogen Vent / Chlorine Gas Vent to drive industrial setups, but be prepared to manage extreme heat or corrosive gases depending on variant.
  • Ranch Dreckos near Balm Lily patches for largely self-sustaining wool/fertilizer production; keep an eye on temperature and food supply for consistent yields.
  • Cultivate Pincha Pepperplants for progression to higher-tier meals; Fungal Spore cultivation in dedicated farms provides straightforward mushroom food if soil and light conditions are met.
  • Salvage ruins for early artifacts and materials, but watch for environmental hazards and gas pockets when clearing them.
