Son of Crimsonfish

The Son of Crimsonfish is one of the five Legendary Fish required for Mister Qi's Extended Family Quest. It is an ocean fish found at the beach on the eastern pier, and it shares the same sell price, healing effect, location, and hooking chance as the Crimsonfish. It can only be caught while the quest is active, but more than one can be caught during a single quest.

Because it is a quest fish, the Son of Crimsonfish has a very limited role outside of the Extended Family Quest. It is not used in any bundles, but it does have a few other niche uses:

• It can be used as red dye in the dye pots at Emily and Haley's house, 2 Willow Lane.
• It can be placed in a Fish Pond, though the pond capacity is always 1 fish and cannot be increased.
• The only possible Fish Pond output is Son of Crimsonfish Roe.

In a Fish Pond, the fish produces Fishing XP as a possible produce instead of multiple different items. With one fish in the pond, the daily produce chance is split between Son of Crimsonfish Roe and nothing, with roe being the main output.

Since the fish is tied to a quest, players typically catch it only when progressing through Mister Qi's Extended Family Quest. Its availability during that quest means it can be farmed more than once before the quest ends, making it slightly more flexible than a one-time legendary catch.
