Nimball

Overview

Nimball is a peg orb in Peglin that grants Spinesse when it scores a critical hit. It interacts with other game systems that modify critical chance and can be multiplied by effects that create additional Nimball orbs on the board.

Nimball functions by converting a successful crit into the orb's secondary effect: granting Spinesse. The orb’s value depends on achieving a critical hit, so maximizing crit chance increases its reliability. Nimball benefits directly from any relics, consumables, or other orbs that increase critical hit chance; stacking crit chance is the primary way to improve Nimball's payoff.

When multiple Nimballs are present on the playfield (for example, produced via effects like Matryoshka Shell), each Nimball independently grants Spinesse upon scoring a crit. This means duplicating Nimballs multiplies the potential Spinesse gain as long as each instance can land a critical hit.

Practical notes and strategies:

  • Prioritize aiming for the crit zone with Nimball shots to ensure it triggers; positioning and shot arcs that favor center/bullseye hits are ideal.
  • Combine Nimball with crit-boosting relics, Critsoballos, or other crit-enhancing mechanics to turn a low-probability effect into a consistent resource generator.
  • Creating multiple Nimballs (via clones, shells, or other duplication effects) scales the effect because each orb independently grants Spinesse on its own crit.
  • Because Nimball’s usefulness is tied to crits, it pairs best with builds explicitly focused on critical chance rather than pure damage or status effects.
