Refreshircle

refreshircle

Overview

Refreshircle is an orb-type item that specializes in generating Refresh pegs when it hits. It trades raw damage for repeated utility: its damage output is weak compared to many orbs, but its value comes from repeatedly creating Refresh pegs to refill the board and sustain long combos. The item has gone through multiple name and visual updates during development and was originally introduced in beta under the name Refreshorb before being renamed to Refreshircle in v0.9.22.

Refreshircle is most effective in builds that intentionally trigger Refresh effects frequently. It pairs naturally with effects and items that produce or capitalize on Refresh pegs, and it benefits heavily from Multiball-style amplification so its refresh trigger occurs many times in a single turn. At level 2 Refreshircle gains a guaranteed refresh-on-discard trait, which makes synergies that discard or spawn many balls particularly strong.

  • Use Refreshircle with items that increase Refresh peg generation or exploit Refresh pegs, such as Refresher Course and Brassicaceae Knuckles; these compensate for the orb’s low damage by creating more opportunities to convert refreshes into value.
  • Granting Multiball to Refreshircle with effects like Duplication Station or Matryoshka Shell multiplies the number of hits and therefore the number of Refresh pegs produced, substantially improving its effectiveness.
  • Ambidextionary is a strong complementary item once Refreshircle reaches level 2 because the guaranteed refresh-on-discard makes it easier to refill the board after large-clearing effects (for example, Circcae-style Multiball or area clears such as Ball Lightning) or when existing Refresh pegs are poorly positioned.
  • Combining Multiball on Refreshircle with recurring effect enhancers like Gift That Keeps Giving further increases activations and overall utility.
  • Because the orb’s damage is low, avoid relying on Refreshircle as a primary damage dealer; instead, build around its refresh-generation role and ensure other damage sources carry combat throughput.

Version history notes: added to the demo in v0.6.18, art updates occurred in v0.7.20 and v0.7.28 (levels were reworked in v0.7.20), and the orb was renamed from Refreshorb to Refreshircle in v0.9.22.
